2. Ain't No Rest For the Wicked

I can't slow down

I can't hold back

Even though I wish I could

Ain't no rest for the wicked

Until we close our eyes for good

"Ava get your ass up know! Come on Ava, my shift starts in an hour and I need someone to watch Jordan. Come on Ava you owe me!" Mora repeatedly banged at the door yelping and hollering like some wild banshee waking the little boy from his nap and Ava from her slumber.

  "Please More! I'll do anything you want just stop all that damn banging!" Ava tossed one of her pillows at the door clutching her blanket tighter and pulling it over her face. The sun beamed brightly through the window spilling rays of sunlight onto her bed and forcing her to recognize that daybreak had truly come and it was time for her to get up.

 She stumbled, no, practically fell out of bed she was so hung-over from the night before. Half asleep, half awake she glanced at her alarm clock. 12:30, no it couldn't be could it?

Coming to the realization that she slept almost a whole day away Ava forced herself to get up and ready. Literally falling into the bathroom she cut the shower on. Ava shrieked as the frigidness of the cold water fell upon her skin sending chills down her spine. As usual her cousin Mora had used all the hot water. If it was three months ago and she was still new to the city she would have made it her business to get in the shower before her. Funny how things turn out. 

 After dressing she staggered into the small kitchen.

"Ooh don't you look sexy." A smile played on Mora's cocoa colored lips.

Ava glanced up and down her attire. Slouchy jogging pants, an oversized tee, and a red headscarf taming her mess of a head. She didn't find anything amusing.

"Avie Avie!" The little boy reached out his tiny chubby arms to her, the cutest grin spread across his chubby face.  Ava gladly scooped the two year old up into her arms tossing him into the air.

 "And that my cue to go." Mora kissed the little boy on the cheek and told Ava goodbye.

  "Well I guess it's just you and me Jordy." Ava placed him onto the playmate sitting beside him as she watched his little face light up with joy and innocence.  She smiled as she watched him play silently dreading the upcoming night fast approaching her.....
